Dr. David Atkins

David Atkins, M.D., MPH, recently held the position of VA’s acting Chief Research & Development Officer (CRADO) for 2016. Previously, Dr. Atkins was the Director of Health Services Research & Development for VA. He led VA's Quality Enhancement Research Initiative, a network of 10 centers, focused on health conditions common among Veterans, that is dedicated to translating research results into clinical practice. He also worked to spearhead the implementation of a new model for health services research known as CREATE, featuring close teamwork throughout all phases of research with VA clinical leaders.

Dr. Atkins is a general internist and clinical epidemiologist and is currently the acting Deputy CRADO.
